The Symposium Intensive  is focused on the education of dance. It is

made up of an incredible staff that is so excited to share their knowledge with thesedancers, teachers, and parents!

NO STRESS OF COMPETITION AND CONVENTION!

Since the Symposium Intensive is a convention only, it allows the dancers to take several classes throughout the weekend. The workshop is designed to keep the focus on the dancers, helping them to grow in their dance education. We want each and every dancer to leave feeling motivated, inspired and encouraged; ready to take the upcoming competition season by storm!

DETAILS OF SYMPOSIUM TALENT INTENSIVES


Be sure to take advantage of our one-on-one opportunities with PRE SEASON FEEDBACK SESSION At the intensive, work with our master teachers to help clean and prepare your routines for competition!

  • Must be registered for conventions to participate!
  • Routine Feedback – $85/routine (discounts offered for multiple sessions)
  • Independent dancers MUST receive approval from their teacher/choreographer.

Register a routine to receive direct feedback from our reputable master teachers & step up your game for competition season! The one-on-one session will take place in the ballroom immediately following the showcase at the conclusion of the convention.Dancers will perform their routine for our master teachers and will receive verbal critiques that will be recorded and provided to studio directors. Dancers will also get the opportunity to speak one on one with the master teachers and receive live feedback on the spot.This is a great opportunity for dancers to receive feedback from a professional panel before the start of the competitive season. No awards will be presented. The sessions focus on the opportunity to perform and working to improve your routine! Costumes can be worn but are not required. Routines must be registered and paid for at least 20 days prior to the event. The sessions will be closed and will only be open to registered dancers, their parents, and their teachers. This is strictly a performance opportunity and not a competition. 


EXTRA SATURDAY EVENING CLASSES:

We're excited to announce that we'll be offering Saturday evening classes at select events! These classes are designed for advanced dancers looking for a professional and challenging experience that moves at a quick pace. We highly encourage our ambassadors to participate in these classes to broaden their skills and deepen their dance education.There will be two to three classes available at the events where we are able to host them. Please note that these Saturday classes are separate from the regular intensive classes held on Sunday, and they will incur an additional cost.If you have any questions or if you have dancers who would like to sign up, please feel free to email us.Improv Classes  Our Improv Challenge at Symposium Talent Contest, “The Superstar Challenge” is one of the dancer's favorite parts of the events. We are excited to have Superstar Improvclasses at Symposium Dance Experience! In this class the dancers will explore body mapping through levels, shape and dynamic theory. Our teachers are excited to inspire and build confidence in your dancer’s ability to spontaneously dance!The Showcase The Showcase will take place at the end of the day and is sure to be entertaining! This will be a chance for the dancers to show their parents what they have learned throughout the day.


The Mini/Beginner Workshop:

The Mini workshop is for young dancers who want to experience Symposium but might find the Junior Room too challenging. This is a great intro into the convention world for dancers ages 5 & up! The Mini workshop consists of half-day classes on Sunday.

10 dancers 1 Teacher Free

20 dancers 2 Teachers Free

30 dancers 3 Teachers Free

*When calculating the total number of dancers, do not include scholarship recipients or observers. 


FREQUENT STUDENT DISCOUNT: 

Dancers who attend one Regional city at full workshop price, may attend a 2nd city within the Symposium Regional season at a 50% discount. Discount does not apply to National Finals.

Independent Registration Pricing for 2025

Mini/Beginner - $160 

Junior/Senior - $195 Observer - $35

***Independent Registration must be paid for in Full at time of Entering Registration in or it will not be confirmed and accepted.


General Information: 

The workshop ages listed are simply guidelines. Students ARE allowed to dance in another level based upon their ability and their teacher’s professional opinion. Students must audition for scholarships in the appropriate age division. Dancers may audition in a higher level but never in a lower workshop level.


Mini workshop was created to give your youngest dancers a chance to attend a convention with a fun atmosphere and low stress environment.


One free Mini Observer band will be given to the studio for the appropriate parent/guardian for each registered Mini dancer. This wristband will only allow entrance to the Mini classroom. It does not grant access to the Junior, Teen, Senior or Teacher rooms – NO exceptions. Additional Mini Observer bands can be purchased, if needed/

  • Minis may be combined into the junior level if attendance in city does not permit separate minis class.
  • Minis are not eligible to receive any scholarships.
  • For dancers who wish to dance in a higher age division, you may do so without changing your band (with the exception of Minis).


Convention Rules & Regulations:

 All registration must be paid 30 days prior to receive discounted rates. Early Tuition fees only apply to registrations submitted and PAID IN FULL by the “Early Registration Deadline” for each city. See your city page for exact registration deadlines. In most cities, the Early Registration Deadline is 30 days before the event.

  • We can only accept checks up to 2 weeks prior to the event weekend.
  • Convention fees are in US funds only and are NON-REFUNDABLE. NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Hotel Discounted Room Rates are available until cutoff date or until room block sells out.
  • Schedules will be sent via email 1 week prior to the event.
  • All checks returned are subject to a $25 NSF Fee plus incurred late fees. We cannot accept personal or studio checks day of.
  • Schedule is always subject to change.
  • Once registration is submitted it is agreed that all dancers, teachers, parents, and other attendees will not hold Symposium responsible for any injury or loss of property during the event.
  • At the door, registration must be paid by cash, credit card, cashier's check or money order. Symposium does not accept personal OR studio checks at any events, at any time.


Observers:

  • Observers are non-dancers. This includes siblings.
  • Observers are $35 for entirety of the event.
  • Teachers or Studio Owners who wish to dance in the classes must pay the teacher rate.
  • Teachers or Studio Owners who wish to observe only, must pay the Teacher Observer rate.
  • Observer space is limited. Observers 10 and under are Free.
  • Observers must make sure that wristbands are visible at all times.
  • Observers must be with a registered dancer/s.
  • Please no excessive noise or talking during the classes.
  • NO videotaping or photography allowed at any point during the workshop classes.
  • Symposium reserves the right to limit observers in any of the Classrooms to maximize space for dancers. This includes the Mini Classroom.
  • Observer wristbands give you entrance into the Classroom. It does not guarantee you a seat in the classroom. Please do not bring in Large Dance Bags, Costuming or lay Blankets on the floor. This is all to give priority to the space for the Dancers to Dance.
  • Observers do not have access to the Teacher/Studio Owner room and will surrender their wristband if found there.
  • Observer wristbands are not required for the faculty Presentation at the end of the session.
  • Symposium reserves the right to limit observers within each ballroom, subject to attendance and space limitations. If limit is reached prior to convention, Observer wristbands will not be sold at the door.
  • Symposium reserves the right to revoke any Observer privileges.
  • Observer wristbands are NON-REFUNDABLE. No exceptions.


What is the Schedule for the Weekend?  

We email a TENTATIVE schedule out to provided email address on the registration form about 1 week prior to the event. 


Please remember that workshop schedules are subject to change up to the day of the event. Please see our registration desk for our most current schedule.

Schedules may vary from city to city.


Digital  Media  Photography and Video recording from any media devices (i.e. digital cameras, cell phones, SLR's, Flip, etc.) is strictly prohibited during classes. 

This is to ensure the children's safety and privacy, as well as protecting the work of choreographers and faculty.


Safety and Security:

The host hotel, facilities and Symposium are not responsible for any lost personal items or injuries.If a participant of Symposium needs first aid, please see a Symposium Staff member at the registration desk.


All dancers under the age of 16 who are registered with Symposium must be accompanied by an adult of legal age unless prior approval is received.
